Fact Check
This advertisement contains some factual evidence, while other claims made can be classified as untrue. The ad claims that John McCain, along with all other Republicans, is a two-faced liar. The evidence used to support this statement is all true and can be proven. Whether a voter believes McCain to be two-faced or just a man who changes his mind frequently is up to them. While this statement can be backed up by legitimate evidence others in the ad cannot.
In the ad many quotes are used to convey a negative image of John McCain. The quotes in Spanish read " Mexicanos stupidos y calificados" (stupid and unskilled Mexicans) and "Cierra tu boca o largate" (shut you mouth or you get out). These extremely offensive quotes are used to make McCain seem to have racist views towards Mexicans. However, the problem with these quotes all boil down to their source- Rush Limbaugh. Limbaugh has his own radio show and is known for being very outspoken and sometimes offensive. The fact that this ad ties Limbaugh's quotes directly to McCain is the main reason for its lack of validity. McCain has never publicly agreed with Limbaugh's views on any issue and never supported the show. Also, Limbaugh was never a McCain supporter durig the primaries and has attacked him on his show many times. Therefore, the tying of these quotes to John McCain is illegitimate and does not give any evidence that he has racist views towards Mexicans in America.
